The development involved the construction of a retail unit, including storage and ancillary accommodation, associated site works, car park and connection to foul sewer. The area of land take measured approximately 70m north-east/south-west (maximum) x 40m (maximum), giving a total land holding of 0.8769ha.
Excavation of three test trenches located throughout the development area failed to reveal either archaeological features or artefacts. On all occasions topsoil directly sealed geologically deposited strata.
No archaeological features or artefacts were revealed as a result of testing.
