Waterdyke 2 was located on the Combined N73 Annakisha South and N73 Clogher Cross to Waterdyke, Co. Cork, Road Realignment Schemes. Excavation revealed a single pit that was ovoid in plan, measuring 1.1m x 0.74m x 0.17m. There was evidence of in situ burning, in the form of red oxidised sand 0.02m thick, particularly to the south of the pit. The primary fill of the pit was soft black silty sand with frequent charcoal that had a maximum thickness of 0.11m. The pit was sealed by a deposit of soft brown silty sand with occasional flecks of charcoal that was 0.1m thick. The primary fill of the pit was radiocarbon dated to 266-535 cal. AD (UBA-21425, 1640±36 BP).
