A programme of monitoring of topsoil removal was undertaken 27 October - 7 November 2011 and on 10 January 2012, at Dairygold Food Ingredients Ltd., Castle Farm, Mitchelstown, Co. Cork. The proposed development involved the construction of low rate digester, consisting of a post tensioned circular tank, utilities building and ancillary services.
Topsoil was stripped across the whole of the development site—an area measuring approximately 270m by 130m, or a total area of 4.47ha. No archaeological deposits or features were identified.
