Intertidal and underwater assessment for the East Tip Remediation Project on Haulbowline, Cork Harbour, focused on the east part of the island, which is reclaimed from the Spit Bank. It contains the remains of a causeway bridge that connected Haulbowline with Spike Island. The causeway is encased in stonework, but a painting of c. 1870 suggests that it was originally founded on timber piles.
