An archaeological evaluation was undertaken on 20 June 2012 at the site of a proposed development. The evaluation was requested by NIEA: HMU as the site was located within the early 17th-century plantation settlement of Hamiltonsbawn (Drumorgan) and c. 100m south-west of a rath [ARM013-026]. A total of eight trial trenches were mechanically excavated across the site which was characterised by topsoil and modern debris up to 0.8m overlying subsoil. No archaeological features were found but seven sherds of 17th-century sgraffito ware were recovered from topsoil.
