An archaeological evaluation was conducted at a proposed development site at No. 141 Ballinlea Road near Stranocum. The proposed development concerned the construction of 18 self-catering cottages.
The proposed development lay within an archaeologically sensitive landscape with 14 recorded sites within a 1.5km radius. None of these sites were located within the boundaries of the proposed development though the closest, a graveyard and three souterrains (ANT013-002) were located approximately 120m to the east.
The site was tested by means of two trenches excavated across it. Apart from the presence of field drains, no deposits of archaeological potential were uncovered.
