Monitoring of groundworks associated with the extension of a former ESB store for use as a funeral home was undertaken during September 2011. The monitored groundworks involved the excavation of approximately 20 linear metres of strip foundations. The monitored foundation measured 0.5m in width and 0.4m in depth. The stratigraphy uncovered in the trench was comprised of modern made ground overlying a loose, grey, clayey rubble. No archaeological features, deposits or artefacts were uncovered during the excavation of the foundation trench.
