Testing was undertaken for the proposed N51 Southhill Realignment Scheme in the townland of Mitchelstown. The works were undertaken on behalf of Westmeath County Council.
Testing was completed in one day, 5 July 2011. A total of 122 linear metres of trenches were excavated across the area. Testing showed that the area had been disturbed in places by previous road and services works. No archaeological sites or artefacts were discovered during the course of the works.
