Calverstown 1 is located on the route of the proposed N52 Road Improvement Scheme, east of the existing N52. The site is in a level field in pasture, south of the Calverstown/Dalystown townland boundaries. A single isolated pit was identified with in situ burning.
Pit 1 had a circular shape and was shallow with a concave profile. It had a gradual break of slope on the top and bottom, with gradually sloping sides and a flat base. It measured 0.83m in diameter and 0.15m in depth. This feature contained two fills; the primary fill consisted of a medium-compacted mottled mix of charcoal and red scorched clay. This fill was more evident on the western side of the pit and measured 0.48m in diameter and 0.02m deep. The upper fill consisted of a loose brown silty clay with frequent medium-sized stones which were confined to the eastern half of the pit.
This pit was subsequently found to be post-medieval/early modern, with a date of 160±27 BP (cal. AD 1665–1953; UBA-19682).
