In 2008 pre-development testing was undertaken at Georges Street (Excavations 2008, no. 1245). Two trenches were excavated which suggested that the majority of the area proposed for development had been extensively disturbed during the construction and demolition of the post-medieval terrace of buildings which once occupied the site. A single large, subsoil-cut feature was, however, uncovered at the southern end of the site.
In 2011 monitoring of the installation of a raft-substructure was undertaken at the site. Construction groundworks did not reach the depth of the previously identified archaeological horizon. No archaeological deposits were disturbed during the development of the site.
