Monitoring took place of ground disturbance associated with various phases of an eight-turbine wind farm development at Church Hill but there were no signs of archaeological activity. The stratigraphy generally consisted of peat overlying natural soils and/or rock. Peat depths in general averaged 0.6m, except in the area of Turbine 8, where peat was excavated to a depth of c. 4m. Owing to the depth of peat in this area the access roadway to T8 was floated. Field-walking in the area of the wind farm identified a possible hut site and associated enclosure c. 50m east of the access road between T5 and T7; this site will not be directly affected by the development.
