Testing was undertaken in September 2011 on behalf of North Tipperary County Council at the site of a proposed reservoir in the townland of Gortybrigane, Birdhill, in advance of the Newport Regional Water Supply Scheme. Five trenches were excavated across the test area but no sites of archaeological significance were identified.
