Monitoring was carried out at a proposed dwelling house development at Soodry, Skreen. The site is adjacent to SL013-048, an archaeological complex including a castle, earthworks, house sites, souterrain, stone sculpture (original location) and a moated site (SL013-04801-05). The work was carried out on 25 October 2011. Excavation exposed a subsoil that varied in depth from 0.2m to 0.5m north to south, composed of a mid-brown silty loam with few inclusions. This overlay a gravelly till in a silty sand matrix with occasional large stones. The entire site was stripped of topsoil and no features of archaeological potential were noted. The only finds recovered were sherds of modern pottery and one clay pipe stem fragment.
