Two test trenches were opened on a site as part of preparatory works for the submission of a planning application to renovate an existing derelict dwelling house and undertake associated site works at Culleenduff, Strandhill. The site, at a coastal location, is close to a midden.
One test trench was positioned on the site of the proposed percolation area, whilst another was opened on the proposed service line that will link the house to the percolation area and the purfalo system. No archaeological features or remains were revealed in any of the trenches.
