Stage (i) test excavations were undertaken in advance of the N59 Farranyharpy–Ballygreighan Road Improvement Scheme as part of an ongoing assessment of the proposed improvement of the N59 between Farranyharpy and Ballygreighan. The testing was completed in June 2011. A total of 332 linear metres of trenches were excavated in Area 9 (Fields A–C), Grange Beg townland. All trenches were excavated to the level of subsoil. A shallow furrow was recorded in Trench 1 (Field A). No archaeological features were recorded or finds retrieved.
