Monitoring took place of soil-stripping in fields already test-trenched and geophysically surveyed in 2010 (Excavations 2010, no. 534). Eighteen hectares were stripped and numerous stone-filled and stone-lined drains were uncovered. Many areas of black staining mixed with naturally occurring small angular pieces of red sandstone, looking suspiciously like destroyed fulachta fiadh, were found scattered throughout the fields. This material was analysed; it was found not to contain any carbon but had sixteen other trace elements, including copper, cobalt and manganese.
