Testing was undertaken within the site of a proposed distribution road and associated works at Newtownmoyaghy, Kilcock, in April 2011.
Fifteen test trenches were excavated across the development area. The remains of two walls, a brick-lined hearth and cobbled surfaces were identified in four of the trenches (Trenches 4, 5, 14 and 15), located outside the infrastructural works but within the wider development area. These most likely represent the remains of structures shown on Larkin’s map of 1812 and the first-edition OS map. Nothing of archaeological significance was identified in any of the remaining trenches.
