Testing was carried out at Tankardstown, Rathkenny, as part of a pre-planning assessment. Tankardstown House dates from the 18th century (the main courtyard buildings from 1745 and the house from 1789) and its attendant grounds extend to approximately 100 acres.
Three trenches measuring 40m in length were excavated and potential features were investigated in order to determine their nature and origin. Nothing of archaeological significance was recorded during the testing.
