The Ballymartin Group Water project (c. 5km in length) commenced to the north of Kilmaine village and ran north-west towards Ballinrobe in south-east Mayo. The project involved laying pipe in fields adjacent to the roadside and in road verge. The depth required for the pipe was c. 1.2m deep by c. 0.3m wide.
A fulacht fiadh was identified in Ballymartin townland (123,560 260,380). The site was sampled for radiocarbon dating and its location recorded.
