Monitoring is being undertaken at Dundalk Grammar School in advance of the construction of a new school building, multi-purpose hall and caretaker facilities. Groundworks are taking place in two phases, the first of which (Phase 1) was undertaken in December 2011 and involved the reduction of an existing car park by mechanical excavator equipped with flat/toothless bucket. Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered during monitoring of the Phase 1 works. Phase 2 is due to commence in summer 2012.
