Monitoring was carried out in support of a grant of planning permission for drainage works associated with the development of a pitch-and-putt course at Newtown, Monaleen Rd, Castletroy. The closest archaeological monument, LI006-034, an enclosure, is approximately 400m to the west of the development site. The proposed development will consist of a single land drain measuring c. 0.5m in width by c. 80m in length, traversing the development site in a south-east/north-west direction. This drain feature at its north-western terminus will feed into a square soak-pit, roughly measuring 5m by 5m by c. 2m in depth, which may also serve as a water feature for the pitch-and-putt course.

Nothing of archaeological significance was encountered.
