Three trial holes were excavated in the open area of the site. Two of the trial holes at the front of the site were dug to an average depth of 3m. A heavy concentration and depth of rubble infill was found (up to 2.5m), which would suggest that demolition and infilling has occurred throughout the years. It is likely that any archaeology relating to the medieval town or earlier that may have been present on the site was disturbed by later building works. Nothing of an archaeological nature was noted.
