Testing was carried out in advance of an extension to the security building at the entrance to St Francis’ Brewery, Parliament Street, Kilkenny. The site lies in the Zone of Archaeological Potential surrounding Kilkenny City and lies close to a Franciscan friary founded in 1234. Modern yard deposits to depths of 0.6m below modern ground level were removed to accommodate a foundation to this level. The foundations did not exceed that depth. No archaeological finds or features were noted.
