Testing of the development area for a proposed 100MW power station at the IDA Business and Technology Park, Purcellsinch, was conducted in January 2011. The assessment was commissioned by the Environment Division of Mott Macdonald on behalf of Greener Ideas Limited and conforms to recommendations of the National Monuments Service in relation to an existing planning permission for the development. The proposed development area is situated in the south-western portion of the medieval manor of Kilmologga, and a probable ringwork castle (KK019-103), a probable tower-house (KK019-035) and a medieval parish church and graveyard (KK019-029) are recorded within 500m of the site. The nearest recorded monument is, however, a limekiln (KK019-104) 100m to the east. Eight test trenches were excavated across the development area. Nothing of archaeological interest was noted. Should the development proceed, further monitoring will be undertaken.
