A series of archaeological features were found during the monitoring of topsoil-stripping for Arkil Quarry. Two probable cremation pits with burnt human bone were excavated, along with a charcoal-production pit, post-hole and stake-hole. The site features were spread across an area of approximately 150m on the east- and north-facing slopes of Boston Hill. To the south was the Hill of Allen. The cremation features were located 500–600m from the summit of Boston Hill.
