Monitoring and excavation at Brownstown Quarry, Corbally, uncovered six pits and a post-hole in two groups not far from known prehistoric remains. One of the pits is a possible cremation burial with pottery sherds. This feature was radiocarbon-dated to the Late Bronze Age and there is a nearby post-hole. The southern set of features is in an L-shape and three of the pits contained diagnostic Middle Neolithic lithics. A radiocarbon date from one of the features was centred towards the later Neolithic.
