A group of archaeological features were identified in Ballynane td at approx. 158m OD. This site survived as an extensively disturbed small spread (2.04m x 0.1.4m x 0.1m) of heat-shattered rock in a charcoal-rich clay matrix. No artefacts were recovered. Environmental samples produced charcoal only. There was evidence for machine-dug pits across the area that was excavated during reclamation works. No pits/troughs or associated features were identified within the excavated area. A radiocarbon date of 1193–969 cal. BC (SUERC-38039, 2875±35 BP) for hazel charcoal from the spread indicated that it was used in the Middle to Late Bronze Age periods.
