This site was initially identified in the drain face, 0.08m below the field surface along the western extent of the Bord na Móna machine pass (access) into the bog and immediately east of private turbary plots. It was composed of parallel, longitudinally laid planks underlain by a brushwood transverse. It was dated to AD260-530. A single cutting, measuring 4m in length by 3m in width was recommended for excavation. This site was oriented north-east/south-west and was thought at the time of the survey to probably survive beyond the western limit of the bog in the private turbary area. The planks were radially split and were quite thin measuring 0.02-0.04m in depth and 0.08-0.16m in width and were laid 0.05-0.3m apart. The brushwood transverse measured 0.05m in diameter. The wood was poorly preserved and was quite dried and cracked. The peat was composed of well-humified Sphagnum-rich peat with moderate Eriophorum and Calluna inclusions.
