An assessment of the site of a proposed development at Clonkeenkerrill townland, Colmanstown, Co. Galway, was carried out on 14 and 15 March 2011. The proposed development involved extending an existing graveyard into a greenfield site to the north-east. The graveyard lies adjacent to the ruined remains of a medieval church (GA072-014001 St Kerrill’s Abbey, GA072-014002 graveyard, GA072-014003 cross, and GA072-014004 field system).
Eight trial trenches were excavated at the site and nothing of archaeological significance was recovered.
