The works entailed the construction of pipelines with respect to the Group Water Scheme, as detailed below, in and around the townlands of Ballynabanba and Fohenagh, Co. Galway. Works were carried out prior to the appointment of an archaeologist. Subsequent to the completion of a cultural heritage impact assessment, a programme of monitoring was carried out. None of the additional works were carried out by open excavation. All the works were carried out using directional drilling and all took place along existing routeways or road verges.
Two site inspections were carried out during the course of these works. No material of archaeological significance was identified during the programme of monitoring.
