The groundworks associated with the construction of an extension to the Fermentation and Beer Processing Plant (FBP) within the Guinness Brewery at St James’ Gate commenced on 28 March 2011. After a few days of monitoring it became apparent that the site had been previously disturbed; as a result, it was decided that intermittent monitoring of some of the remaining drainage works and the excavation of a pit to hold an attenuation tank be carried out. The entire area had been disturbed and nothing of archaeological significance was identified.
