An assessment was carried out on the site of a proposed extension to the Band Hall, Lusk, Co. Dublin. The site is located directly west of St MacCullin’s Roman Catholic Church and Graveyard at the junction of Chapel Road and Chapel Lane. Lusk Band Hall is a Protected Structure recorded in the Record of Protected Structures (Fingal Dev. Plan 2005-2011) as ‘Former Lusk National School’. The area of the proposed extension was tested for the presence of archaeological remains by the excavation of 29 linear metres of test trench by mechanical excavator under supervision. Subsoil was encountered at 0.3m below sod level. No archaeological finds or features were identified.
