The portion of the development site dealt with in this report was a relatively small area inside the current access gate on the Whiterock Road. The area was a roughly trapezoidal shape that measured c. 26m along the boundary with the Whiterock Road (the south-eastern limit), narrowing to c. 12m at the north-west. Part of this area had previously been used as a dump for some scrap metal and other construction-related materials. Another part had been used as the location for a small spoil heap. These were all moved or removed prior to the commencement of topsoil-stripping proper. The topsoil was a brown sandy silt with frequent stones throughout. This overlay pale yellow-orange clay subsoil. Following close monitoring of the removal of the topsoil layer, it may be asserted that no archaeological remains of any kind survived within this area.
