Testing was undertaken across the landholding of the proposed horse livery development site at Drumaville, Malin, on 1 September 2011. The testing programme involved the excavation of eight test trenches of varying sizes, comprising a total area of 1,040m². The site is located in marginal grassland with patches of heavy scrub, traversed by open drains and with evidence of peat extraction. The topsoil consisted of mid- to dark brown peat, 0.4–1.2m in depth. The subsoil consisted of grey sandy clay containing frequent small and large stones. No features, finds or deposits of archaeological significance were identified on the site. A scan of the topsoil from the trenches produced no archaeological finds.
