At the request of Donegal County Council, monitoring took place of geotechnical investigations for the Ballyshannon Water Supply Scheme. The works comprise advance site investigation, including geotechnical investigations—boreholes, test pits and slit trenches. The works area includes green- and brown-field sites in various locations between the towns of Bundoran, Ballyshannon and Ballintra, Co. Donegal. The proposed development includes the construction of reservoirs, water treatment works, access roads and pipelines along existing roads and in greenfield sites.
Monitoring of the geotechnical investigations commenced in December 2010 and continued into 2011. No features of archaeological significance were observed.
