A small evaluative excavation was carried out to the rear of Kilcronaghan Conference and Activity Centre, Rectory Road, Monmeal, Tobermore, approximately 85m to the north-east of Kilcronaghan Church, a ruin dating from 1806 but which incorporates dressed stone of possible 13th-century date. Three test trenches were excavated over an area of approximately 132m2. No material of archaeological significance was discovered and it was demonstrated that much of the area had been disturbed in the mid-20th century by the digging of a massive rubbish pit containing machinery, modern brickwork and building debris.
