Test trenching was undertaken in advance of a proposed development, which involved the construction of a dwelling house, garage and septic tank, at Caherscooby, Newmarket on Fergus. The greenfield site was located approximately 120m to the south-west of the nearest RMP sites, CL042-079 (ringfort/cashel including a hut site and road/track) and CL042-080 (ringfort/cashel). Seven trenches were excavated by a JCB on the site. Nothing of an archaeological nature was uncovered during the test trenching.
