Test excavations were carried out on the site of a proposed dwelling at Coad, Kilnaboy, in November 2011. The development site is located within the area of archaeological constraint for CL017-202, an archaeological complex consisting of a racecourse, enclosure and fulacht fiadh. It also lies partly within the area of constraint for CL017-066, another archaeological complex including a medieval church and graveyard located a short distance to the north of the site. Four test trenches were opened on the footprint of the proposed development. No archaeological material was uncovered.
