Pre-construction testing was undertaken, as part of granted planning permission, of the renovation of a nursing home and associated site works, including car parking. A ringfort and hut site (CV015-069) are located to the south-west of the site.
Six test trenches were opened, two on the eastern side of the site and the remaining four in the western section. A relatively modern field drain, possibly early 19th-century, was uncovered in one opening and appeared to be of agricultural provenance. All other activities—land drains, water pipe and geo-technical trial pits—found in the other openings were of modern date.
Nothing of archaeological significance was found in any of the trenches.
