Testing was undertaken in advance of a residential development at Legarhill td, Mullacreevie. The wider area contained a number of archaeological sites and monuments, including an early ecclesiastical site at Legarhill, c. 120m to the south-east. In addition, the site is approximately 900m east of Navan ASAI, which is a site of international importance.
A total of 22 test trenches with a combined length of 2,246m were mechanically excavated across the site. Two 5m x 5m areas were also opened up around selected features. A total of 41 archaeological features were identified in two areas in Fields 1 and 2. The features consisted of post-holes and pits and were found to contain charcoal, burnt bone, coarseware pottery and flint flakes, débitage and possible end scrapers. A Bronze Age date is provisionally suggested.
