Monitoring at the edge of a graveyard monument at Killiskey, Co. Wicklow, was undertaken in summer 2010. This involved the removal of the eastern extent of a stable block and hardstanding east of the old barn, the fencing and planting on the top of the monument bank, and the erection of a new fence and the laying of topsoil.
The monument adjacent to the site (WI019–011) may have originated in the early medieval period as an ecclesiastical enclosure, and is known to have formed part of a manorial centre throughout medieval times. As such, the immediate area would have been the site of intense human activity and would have acted as a focus for the local population. Despite this, no archaeological material was impacted upon during the works.
