Monitoring was undertaken as part of the Shanganagh Bray main drainage scheme (Contract 1), which involves the expansion and replacement of the existing treatment plant in order to improve the seawater quality of the Shankill area. In addition, a network of pipes stretching from Bray to Shankill will be laid to feed the upgraded plant.
A small area of the Old Bray Golf Course at Ravenswell Road, beside the rail line and the River Dargle, was stripped of topsoil to facilitate the erection of a works compound. The soil-strip was monitored, and no archaeology was observed.
