Scurlocksbush 5 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was situated in undulating grassland within a slight hollow located in the northern half of the field.
The burnt mound found at Scurlocksbush 5 consisted of soft black charcoal-rich silt sand which contained a high quantity of heat-affected stone. A rectangular trough was found beneath the burnt mound which was orientated north-west to south-east. The trough was filled by loose black charcoal-rich silt sand which contained a high quantity of heat-affected stone. The remains of three poorly preserved timbers were found at the base of the trough. A second parallel subrectangular trough was also found and this contained two fills. The basal fill consisted of compact black silt sand which contained occasional burnt stones and flecks of charcoal. The remains of a single wooden side plank were also identified. The upper fill consisted of firm dark-brown charcoal-rich silt sand which contained a high quantity of sub-angular burnt stones.
A series of additional pits were recorded on the site. An oval pit containing two fills was identified. The basal fill of this pit was dark-brown/grey sandy silt which contained charcoal flecks. The upper fill of the pit was soft black/grey charcoal-rich silt sand which contained a high quantity of heat-affected stone. A sub-oval pit was filled by loose dark-brown silt sand which contained charcoal flecks and a small quantity of angular stones.
An east–west-aligned palaeochannel was also recorded, along with a series of post-medieval plough furrows.
