Riverview 1 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was situated in a field which had recently been harvested. The field slopes down to a tributary of the Slaney River in its the northern corner.

A linear post-medieval boundary ditch, which was orientated east to west, traversed the site. A large oval pit filled with five deposits of dumped waste material was also excavated. The pit measured 0.85m by 0.6m by and was 0.52m deep, with concave sides. The basal fill was compact black charcoal-rich silt which contained crushed stone. The second fill was soft light-grey/brown silt which contained charcoal flecks. Above this was a soft black charcoal-rich silt clay layer. The fourth fill was compact orange oxidised clay which contained flecks of charcoal. The upper fill consisted of soft grey/light-brown silt.

Tree root holes and linear post-medieval plough furrows were also recorded, indicating field clearance and enlargement.
