Excavations at Rathgaroge 2 were undertaken on behalf of Wexford County Council as part of the Stage (iii) archaeological services contract prior to the commencement of construction of the N25 New Ross bypass road scheme.
Excavation at Rathgaroge 2 revealed an unenclosed flat cremation cemetery comprising seven possible token cremation burials. These were mainly subcircular in plan, averaging 0.5m in length, 0.44m in width and 0.11m in depth. They contained varying quantities of charcoal and cremated human bone within silty sand and silty clay fills.
