Quarry 2 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was situated in a large field in pasture which slopes down to the west.
Excavations revealed a spread of burnt stone, which measured 8m by 4m and reached a maximum depth of 0.1m. The kidney-shaped burnt-stone deposit consisted of firm grey/black sand which contained a high quantity of heat-shattered stone.
A trough comprising two cuts was exposed beneath the burnt-stone spread. The trough consisted of a rectangular cut, measuring 2.25m by 1.4m and 0.4m deep, the northern end of which appear to cut an earlier rounded feature measuring 1.4m by 1.1m and 0.15m deep. Both cuts contained similar burnt-stone material.
A circular pit 0.95m by 0.6m 0.3m and located south-west of the trough was also filled with burnt-stone material, and is presumably associated with the above features.
