Monroe 2 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was situated in an undulating field which contains a shallow valley orientated north–south beyond the western limits of the road scheme. This valley was marked as containing a stream on early mapping. Five burnt-spread sites (Monroe 1–5) were identified along the eastern bank of the stream.
A burnt spread was recorded at Monroe 2, measuring 13.2m by 10.95m and up to 0.15m thick. The spread consisted of loose, dark-grey, charcoal-rich silt clay which contained a high density of heat-affected stone. There were no troughs or associated pits identified beneath the burnt spread. A small curvilinear gully was identified at the eastern side of the burnt spread. The gully was filled by the burnt-spread material and is likely to have had drainage purposes.
