Dunsinane 1 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme in a large undulating field which slopes downhill from the west to the east.
Dunsinane 1 included six post-holes, eight pits, two stake-holes, one small stone spread and a modern ditch. There was no structural pattern visible amongst the features, which were scattered across a 30m by 20m area. All of the post-holes were either circular or subcircular and measured 0.11m x 0.08m x 0.15m to 0.75m x 0.48m x 0.22m. Two of the post-holes contained prehistoric pottery.
The pits varied in shape and size, being circular, oval or subrectangular and measuring from 0.5m x 0.48m x 0.13m to 2.6m x 1m x 0.3m. There were no finds recovered from these pits. Two small stake-holes were located amongst the pits and post-holes while a small circular spread of dark-brown silty clay with frequent charcoal inclusions measured 1.03m x 1.06m x 0.06m. A total of seventeen sherds plus several crumbs of prehistoric pottery were recovered from this spread.
A modern field ditch was excavated for a length of 4.5m and was 1.02m wide and 0.32m deep.
