Ballynahallin 1 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. Excavations revealed two troughs, a large pit, two post-holes and eight stake-holes.
A large feature, perhaps representing two troughs, was filled with burnt-stone material. This feature measured 2.4m by 0.5m, was 0.4m deep and continued beyond the western limit of excavation.
The larger subrectangular trough, which had sloping sides and a concave base, contained five fills, indicating reuse. This trough appeared to be truncated at its southern edge by a smaller trough, which had rounded sides and a concave base.
To the north-east of the subrectangular trough, a cluster of eight stake-holes may represent a windbreak. The circular stake-holes measured on average 0.1m diameter and 0.16m in depth.
A large pit, 6m north-east of the troughs, measured 1.1m by 1m and was 0.7m deep with a single sterile fill.
Approximately 3m south-east of the troughs, two post-holes were identified which contained fills with charcoal flecking.
