Ballynabarny 3 was located on the proposed M11 Gorey to Enniscorthy scheme. The site was situated in a large field under pasture which slopes to the west. It is defined on all sides by an earthen bank with mature trees of elder, elm, holly and sycamore.
A large sub-oval pit measured 1.75m by 1.9m and was 0.7m deep with steep vertical sides and a flat base. This pit contained three fills. The upper fill was loose black charcoal-rich silt clay which contained a high quantity of small to medium-sized angular stones. The second fill consisted of a loose dark-grey/black mix of charcoal and small angular stones. The basal fill was loose mid-blue/grey silt clay which contained charcoal and angular stones. There was no evidence for burning or oxidisation, which may indicate that this material was dumped from its original location. The fill may also be the remnants of a trough or ploughed-out burnt-mound material.
Two linear drains were also recorded on the site.
